Mud Pies – Nature-based programs for families with younger children
Mud Pies Open Days are an opportunity for families to engage in nature play activities and enjoy being in community outdoors.
Developed to support nature connection, enhance sensory integration and foster resilience, the facilitated sessions help parents and children connect with nature and each other. This connection re-energises and brings about a sense of peace.
The facilitator brings new ideas for adventures and resources that will challenge children’s exploration and physical development to help them grow. The free flowing program and resources are designed to develop physical skills, a sense of curiosity and emotional resilience through sensory risk taking and connection.
Each Mud Pies Open Day differs slightly, but generally families will have the opportunity to get messy playing with clay, explore and create with tools, build cubbies, read books, sing songs, create nature crafts and splash in water. Morning tea under some trees provides an opportunity to rest, refuel and to share stories, advice and social time with other families.
Mud Pies Open Days are designed for children aged 18 months – 4 years, but children aged 1-5 years are most welcome to attend.
Sessions run from 9.30am to 11.30am. The session cost is $20 for a child and parent/guardian. $15 for siblings. There is no cost for siblings under 18 months of age.
Mud Pies programs are run in a variety of locations around Perth. We are frequently adding new locations. Here is a list of our current locations, including links to maps and tips on how to get to these spots.
