This year we were delighted to be invited by Mulberry Tree Childcare to assist them in enhancing their philosophy of “Nature Leading Learning”. We have been working with their childcare centres, Indigo Montessori kindergartens and OSHC after-school kids clubs to train their educators in aspects of nature pedagogy and nature playwork as well as modelling ways to set up provocations in outdoor areas. This is a huge project and a fantastic opportunity for us to create impact with educators, children and parents across 33 centres in Perth. We have been receiving wonderful feedback so far and it has really confirmed how playful and engaged educators can create strong and valuable connections with the children in their care.
“It’s opened up our eyes to the resources we have available to us already and how we can easily create experiences out of what we already have. Also, the importance of how we set up the activities with respect and engaging with the children and playing and interacting with them, demonstrating how to use and respect the resources.” Karrinyup Mulberry Tree
“The program was helpful for educators to get our children back to nature play experiences. Children are allowed to utilise their senses and creativity through experiencing nature in its raw elements.” Mt Hawthorn Mulberry Tree
“Loose parts play is so open ended, children can utilise materials in various ways. These materials can be as challenging and simple as we make them to suit each child’s needs and abilities. We have been slowly building a loose parts collection for outside to further promote nature based play and learning.” Padbury Indigo Montessori
