Mud Pies – Nature-based programs for families with younger children

Please note that we are no longer offering Mud Pies Nature Playgroup or Open Day sessions.

Mud Pies provides an opportunity for families to engage in nature play activities and enjoy being in community outdoors.

We offer:

    • Mud Pies Open Days, which are stand-alone sessions.

    • Mud Pies Nature Playgroup, which meets fortnightly for 5 sessions throughout the school term.

Developed to support nature connection, enhance sensory integration and foster resilience, the facilitated sessions help parents and children connect with nature and each other. This connection re-energises and brings about a sense of peace.

The facilitator brings new ideas for adventures and resources that will challenge children’s exploration and physical development to help them grow. The free-flowing program and resources are designed to develop physical skills, a sense of curiosity and emotional resilience through sensory risk taking and connection.

Each term Mud Pies Nature Playgroup follows a different theme and includes nature songs, adventure plus facilitated and free-flowing nature connection activities. Examples of these may include playing with clay, exploring and creating with tools, building cubbies, reading books, creating nature crafts and creating water potions. Morning tea under some trees provides an opportunity to rest, refuel and to share stories, advice and social time with other families.

Mud Pies is designed for children aged 18 months – 4 years, but children aged 1-5 years are most welcome to attend.

MUD PIES OPEN DAYS

Come and participate in a stand-alone session to experience what a Mud Pies Nature Playgroup is all about or to spend a lovely morning outdoors with your child. Sessions run from 9.30am to 11.30am. The session cost is $20 for a child and parent/guardian. $15 for siblings. There is no cost for siblings under 18 months of age.

MUD PIES NATURE PLAYGROUP

This is a community of families who meet each fortnight for 5 sessions to explore nature together. Each term has a different theme and the adventure and activities each week build on skills and discoveries found the time before. Inspired by Forest Kindergartens and the Natural Cycle from the Art of Mentoring, these sessions develop confidence for both child and parent in exploring and playing in natural environments.

Sessions run from 9.30am to 11.30am. The session cost is $100 for a child and parent/guardian. $75 for siblings. There is no cost for siblings under 18 months of age.
